One of the most recent Algonquin College projects I worked on, this website had an extensive development process which started with a card sorting exercise with our client in order to reach a consensus on the IA. Based on their needs for a site which was capable of housing a number of archives and forms, the IA was created in such a way which worked with existing and customizable widgets to allow for a user-friendly experience. We worked really hard to ensure the most important information could be found above the page-fold.
This project was one of the very first ones I worked on when I started at the College. This program page specifically is a phase 2 of the website redevelopment project and was enhanced to reflect what was learnt through the first 6 months of analytics and feedback received. After furthering our insights through user testing and personas, we reworked the page to reflect the nature of the program: animation. Each piece of the page can be tracked through Google and Wordpress analytics. We also implemented our CRM Salesforce and Marketo to build profiles of our visitors which in turn will be used to build leads and relationships.
The Volunteer Ottawa blog is primarily used to house information that currently doesn't have a place on their website due to site customization restrictions. Based on the Social Media Marketing Plan I created for VO, the blog ties in a number of their resources and networks to give volunteers one central place for information and discussion. Going forward, VO is looking at developing their Youth Program site with my assistance through Wordpress.
This was one of the first projects I worked on in a CMS such as Wordpress. I was responsible for developing and implementing the information architecture, altering the theme's CSS to match the Canada Games brand, and rolling out the awareness campaign for this new feature. In two months, the blog had over 16,000 views and generated media coverage that would not have been attained had it not been in place. The blog continues to evolve with each games, though at this point I am no longer involved in producing content. Functionally and aesthetically, the blog has maintained the look and feel I created in 2009.
